Chronology
The Maps of India CD is the most comprehensive map encyclopedia, based on India's largest and most referred website www.MapsofIndia.com. Since its inception in 2001 to its latest edition in 2006, the CD has improved manifold in its interface, maps and content as per the suggestions of the experts and users. A brief chronology of the CD is sketched below
2001- Maps of India CD Ver 1.0
The first version of the Maps of India CD, containing 2000 maps and utilities such as highway search, distance search etc, was launched in March 2001. It was the first attempt to compile maps of MapsofIndia.com in an offline CD mode, which received a tremendous response.
2002- Maps of India CD Ver 2.0
Encouraged by the overwhelming response of the last CD, the Maps of India CD Ver 2 containing several new maps and content was introduced in April 2002. The CD included 3000 maps and also integrated 'Search ' 'Navigation' and 'Print' tools. The latter tool was especially helpful for the users to locate the neighboring districts/states of a particular place.
2003-Maps of India CD Ver 3.0
The Maps of India CD Ver 3 was released in November 2003. This CD integrated 3, 500 maps including new history maps, industry specific maps, census maps, hotel maps, and city maps of Aurangabad, Bhubaneshwar, Coimbatore, Cuttack, Gandhinagar, Jalandhar, Ernakulam, Khajuraho, Vijayawada etc.
2004- Maps of India CD Ver 3.1
The updated version in sleek, DVD packaging was released in November 2004.
2005- Maps of India CD Ver 4.0
The Maps of India CD Ver 4 containing 4000 map images with the option of advanced search, section on world maps and ISD codes was launched in 2005 in stylish box packaging.
2006-Maps of India CD Ver 5.0
The Maps of India CD Ver 5 containing over 5000 informative maps, 2000 pages of engaging content and a dedicated section on travel and hotel is the latest edition, released in 2006. The CD contains maps without watermark that can easily be printed in vivid colors for presentations and project reports.
